My journey started with a routine check-up. 

I was a healthy person who can run, played tennis and cycled regularly.

Since the kids had left my home I was planning to spend the rest of my life doing all the activities I wanted to do years ago! 

But I had an unexplained pain that just wouldn’t go away.

After many tests, including a EMG testing, I finally found out from a multidisciplinary team that my results were consistent with a chronic nerve pain condition.

I was devastated as I thought I hadn’t done anything to intentionally damage my Nerves. 


I was in my late fifties.


My career was a distant memory, and my salary was a third of what it was, bringing inevitable financial problems. 


I couldn’t play sports and I couldn’t pick up my 2 grandchildren. 


I had a horrible numbness and burning pain in my foot and arms which was pretty much 24/7 and I practically couldn walk. To top it all off.


My balance was getting worse and the results of my nerve function tests were in decline.


According to my consultant, there wasn’t much to do. So I’d need to learn to “live” with this condition to the best of my abilities for the rest of my life.


We’d tried all sorts of treatments during the previous years, and none of them had been able to stop my pain


I was feeling lonely and isolated for months after my checkup. I didn’t feel like my old self and I had to do something different. 


That is when I decided to join a local neuropathy support group!


They are a great way to meet other people with the same health problems, learn more about your condition and support each other emotionally.


It was in these groups I befriended a girl called Emma who shared her story on beating Neuropathy.


She Really looked amazing! 


She could dance, garden and even participate in physical sports like tennis at her 60ts despite having neuropathy.


I couldn’t help myself – I had to know her “secret”

To say I was skeptical was an understatement.

That I can change my life without drastically changing my routine.

And it took me seconds to do it.


I realised that there were many activities I liked to do like cycling, fishing, and gardening.


But I always felt annoyed by the loss of feeling, numbness, and burning pain.

Now, I finally feel like I am in control of my life. 


I no longer have to put off household chores and even trips to the shower because of Tingling or chronic pain!

But I’ve had too much success not to share it!
